Gifts in the mail: Blogging by Mail and Secret Pal 5

A few pictures of gifts from recent swaps, don't you love swaps?

The first picture shows the gifts from Melissa, my Blogging by Mail baking swap partner.  She lives in France, and didn't think cookies would make it over to me intact, so sent a lovely blue tea cup as well as some tea and a container of sea salt.  Isn't the cup so pretty!  And I love getting new salt... we like to experiment with different salts at home... what a culinary geek I am sometimes! Nic, who was hosting this round of Blogging by Mail, also sent some treats, that I fear were eaten so quickly that I didn't snap a photo of them!  She sent some delicious white chocolate biscotti, some JB Shots candy, a little travel tin of tea, and a sweet card.  I really liked the texture of Nic's biscotti, they were so light and crisp.  And had a hint of cardamom?  Yum yum.

If you'd like to see what I sent my swap partner, check out Jason over at Food Ninja.  I'm so glad everything got there ok, and I'm glad Jason will be participating in the next swap.

The second picture shows my first package from my SP5 pal, she sent some cotton yarn, a pattern for a drawstring stitch sampler bag, a bookmark, a notepad (already in use on the fridge as a grocery list!), a cute card and a foldable ruler.  I don't wear much pink, but I'm thinking I'll make something for one of my nieces.  Hmmm, maybe I'll even teach them how to knit!

Secret Pal 5 - The Questionnaire

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?

I do tend to buy all natural fibers, typically from some of the yarn shops in and around New York City (The Yarn Company and Purl are favorites) or online (KnitPicks and Elann... can't beat nice inexpensive yarn).  I use both wool and cotton (love Manos and Blue Sky in particular).  I'd like to try some bamboo yarn - the whole concept fascinates me!

Secret Pal 5

Woo-hoo... Secret Pal 5 has started!  I got the name of my Secret Pal, and am going to drop her a quick email.  And if you're my Secret Pal, I'll be posting my questionnaire in the next day or so.
